Why I Made my Own Laundry Detergent

Image
Cuz’ I don’t like plastic and I do like money, that’s why.  I’ve long been irked by having to take out my recycling and garbage well early because the bin is filled up with plastic bottles, boxes and jugs. Admittedly, this is not because I have a particular soft spot for the environment, but more so because garbage is lame and taking it out early is even lamer. You know what IS more annoying than taking out the trash a lot though? Spending the last couple dimes of your paycheck on a big ol’ plastic jug of laundry detergent. A. Who actually enjoys doing laundry? B. Who wants to pay more than they have to for this annoying habit? Not I, I say! Can’t a sister take the last drops of a paycheck to the bar or something? Speaking of looking good at the bar… does anyone around here happen to remember the eyeball-swelling circus of January 2010? My eyelids doubled in size one delightful winter night and I had to go all hypoallergenic up in this business to alleviate the...

Roasted peppers, yum Shit, the smoke alarm again! ...Watch out Food Network I think I'm a great cook. I think I'm a great cook because I eat everything I make without a problem. Unless it turns out white beans, tuna fish and red wine vinegar sound better together than they taste; in which case I wouldn't eat it. Which means I didn't eat it, bringing me back to my original point- I eat everything I make without problem. I am a great cook. Cooking is one of those forms of creation that allows me to run around like a crazy lady, totally lost in my element. The more appliances I'm using at once, the more brilliantly insane I feel. Large photo to show off my camera snappin' skillz! Eggs in baskets.

Scary Shit From My Basement

Image
I live in and old, old, old, old, house. LittleCity I live in was founded in 1741, so the ceilings in my apartment are 12 ft high is because Mr. Caveman wern't interested in buying property that Bruno the brontosaurus couldn't fit in. Don't mind the ceiling crack in my bedroom, it was clearly Bruno's play quarters. Right, anyway. I'm 88.5% certain I will run face first into a skeleton body next time I wander down solo with an overflowing basket full of laundry. Let the record show that the reason I wait an unimaginable amount of time to do my laundry is for this reason, and not out of laziness. Nope, not laziness. Without further adieu, scary shit from my basement. Creepy Doors Don't ask me why, but for some reason there are doors upon doors upon doors downstairs. Doors that lead places, doors that are just standing up against walls. Doors that probably lead to closets with bodies and staircases that lead farther to the depths and damp darkness. ...

I Wish List

Image
I'm considering dusting off my growing "I Wish" list for Spring. My, it sure has grown over my winter of  hibernation ...  Unlike Skee-Lo, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to be 6'9". Heck, I woudln't even want to be 6'9". But still. This has nothing to do with what I want to BE, this is what I want to and know I can do. Man, I wish I could photograph food real good . Heck, I wish I could PHOTOGRAPH real good. I wish I could train and then unleash my creativity like a wild animal in a cage to do what it wants with my passions . It would be awesome if I was a world famous blogger who could upload odd YouTube videos and make them instant viral show stoppers . No... scratch that. I wish I was a smaller scale blogger whose voice was still recognized and admired around the blogosphere by a more intimate following . It would be great if I had the patience to transform the pile of fabric on my dresser I bought when ...

The Real Deal from Natty

Image
Hi, wait… are you new? Do you live here? Who are you? Do you have soft hands or smelly shoes? Ok, you can come in then. I’m Natty and I live in a big white house with my mom (Nicole) and aunt Dana. I’m taking over aunt Dana’s blog today because I’ve got stuff to say. Stuff to say about the way things work around here. Stuff you should know that for some reason doesn’t make it on here. That’s right, aunt Dana may monitor things, but I see, hear and smell it all, and I’m not holding back! First thing’s first- the walls in this place are wonderful. Whoever invented these fancy baseboards was a genius. They are at a perfect height to scratch my sides when I walk past. Almost as good as when someone lends me a hand for head scratches. Or a leg to rub against. You humans do not even know. Also, if you’re new here, you’re gonna wanna beware of the couch. For starters, there’s something in the crack between the cushions. Mom and aunt Dana don’t seem to care, but I’ve tried to fish it out nu...
