24 Hours in Saugatuck

Image
Weeee! I don’t even care we have snow on the ground today, we had a really great Saturday trip away. That snow, by the way, it’s not a small amount. All the grass is covered. Plows were out. I repeat, snow plows were out. It’s slippy and I hate it but it’s sunny today and we had a great day trip on Saturday, so let’s get back to that. We did a quick day/overnight trip to Saugatuck, a local beach town, and had an absolute blast. Highlights include eating at The Southerner which has biscuits and fried chicken too good to be true, getting coffee at Uncommon Coffee Roasters, shopping downtown, playing at the Oval Beach playground and C trying to make sense of the funny chickens running around on the grounds at our AirBnB. Saturday afternoon we wandered over to a play structure just beyond the shops in Saugatuck. C was having a blast chasing squirrels, thrilled to be going down the slide all by himself, and later quite invested in the cookie we split from a nearby shop. Sitti...

A Day Of Dates

Boy did Ben and I live it up this weekend. Grammy/Grandpa were in town to wrangle C so we took off Saturday morning for a day of dates. First we hit up Wolfgang’s for breakfast. This is a super hot breakfast spot in town that can be tough to get into. I’ve driven past it about a hundred times, always hoping I’d have time to stop in, but never actually having it. And whoa. SO yum. I can now be on the other side of Grand Rapidians who upon hearing someone hasn’t been to Wolfgang’s says WHAT!? Oh, you HAVE to go! We went to the outlet mall for a quick shop and later we wandered around the Downtown Market and split a small cheese tray at Apertivo. The weather was perfect out so we spent the afternoon on foot doing a 4 ...

Another Great One!

Weee! We had another great weekend! We skipped out of town for an up north weekend away with friends. It was so nice to catch up with them and see our babes hang together as well. Travel and weekends are vastly different with a child than without. Spending time with friends who are flexible and get it, and friends who are in the same boat, feels so nice. We didn't ski, tour the breweries and try out all the new spots, but we did grab dinner out, ventured into a new soft pretzel place and plenty of new shops and also spent a whole lot of time in chatting during nap time.
