Happy one week in Pennsylvania anniversary to me!

I have nothing of great value or interest to report- which is exactly what I was hoping for, for my first week.  Nothing of grand fabulousness or large horrendousness has happened since I arrived in the Keystone state.  Well, I did get locked out of my house, and was nearly rescued by the local volunteer firemen until my neighbor with a spare key beat them to the chase. Still… A minor hiccup, but nothing amazing and nothing terrible- which in total is great.

Life on Second Street

After a full day of traveling, inviting my first strange man into my apartment and numerous trips to Target later- I am all settled in my new place! I set off on Friday, just Karen and I (and all of my earthly possessions) on a 9.5 hour mission.  Sadly, my full length mirror shattered 5 minutes into the drive, but this was not enough to phase me.  Karen's navigation through downtown Detroit was another story.  Couldn't we have taken a prettier way out?  She provided very clear and detailed directions for the remainder of the drive, though, only having a minor 'recalculating' hissy fit when I had to drive a small ways off the highway to stop in Clarion, PA and stretch my legs.  Other than that and the truck tire blow out next to me near the Ohio/Pennsylvania border, it was a dandy drive. This morning an internet menz (man who works for the internet company, not to be confused with random man from the internet- calm down, mom!) showed up on my doorstep to...

Earlier this week the basement looked like this: It's much cleaner now, although not all the way cleaned yet.  About 90% of what you see here has been packed up and is has been smooshed into every corner of my car.   Today was filled with goodbyes, err I mean see you laters.  I'm excited about tomorrow and excited about what's to come, but even more excited to see familiar faces of family and friends on my new turf.  If we haven't already set up plans to meet up, let's do it.  I might only have a bed and chair for awhile but if you bring a comfy pillow, I promise to cook you something yummy in return. :) Tomorrow I take off!  Think happy traveling thoughts for me.
